“They made the world so hard, everyday we got to keep on fighting” – Bob Marley from “One Drop”
This is not a battle of good and evil or wrong or right, this is a battle for dignity and respect and recognition for what belongs us – it does NOT belong to you.
In a world that constantly and consistently silences women of color, who tells us to be “quiet and respectable,” we need to be vigilant. Because the people who you think are your “allies” are really your enemy.
They sit back and they lap up all you have to say, they use it for their own personal gain and for their own personal pleasure.
White people stealing Black people stuff and packaging it as their own. That’s really original. (sarcasm font)
I will NOT stop speaking out about this until you give us back what you stole from us. I won’t stop talking about this until you come to me and ask for forgiveness and admit that you stole from us something that you had no right to take.
I love that Beyonce told us that “the best revenge is your paper.” I also know that the dull minded will only associate “paper” with money – and most white people will only do that after they looked it up in the urban dictionary.
But it’s deeper than that – and I ain’t gon be the one to learn you today – I am exercising my “paper” right now.
Stop appropriating us or expect to see something every single day about it. (And thanks for the stats on my blog, mwah!)
